I think your chords sound good!

The drumbeat just kills it for me, though. It just sounds like a thoughtless, pounding drum rhythm over a beautiful, ambient sound-scape. You might want to rethink the drum part... Other than that, sounds great!

hazi responds:

yeah i thought so. i think i will redo it and put it back up.

This is great stuff!

Such a nice mix of styles! Although it is a little long, I find myself coming back again and again. I like the dense layers of sounds your tracks have. Keep it up!

JonOfTheShred responds:

Thanks. This song in particular had about 50 tracks. I never got to finish it because it got too big for my computer, and the file start crashing my DWA when I tried to open it. Real orchestras take up a LOT of CPU

NASTY LAMPS!

Cool intro! Great tones! 1:18 is sweet! I just don't understand 0:34... The bassline sounds good, but the synths there (until 1:18) don't fit at all. It's a good work overall, but it could be mind-blowing! Some of the synths just sound a little bit off to me!

8 bit videogame funk...

First and foremost, you have a really awesome and unique style here. Second, the keyboards and synths sound great, too. I like the 8 bit touch. This song has a wonderful build-up. You are talented at stretching out one part for 5 minutes! Here are my composition critiques... I think at 4:28 you might want to write a completely different part that blends with the rest of the song, then end it. That riff gets completely exhausting by that point. Now for the instrument critiques... The bassline is a little soft and quiet. The drums are overall pretty cool, but at some parts where you have the chopping/skipping noises, it is used too much and sounds a little out of place. Some of the 8 bit drums (2:53) sound a little off also. That's pretty much all I have. I think its a nice composition, but it could maybe benefit from a little variance on the main riff. Cheers on your future compositions, Jon! This song is a great format for a video-game!

Nice transitions!

This song has a great feel and solid composition. It sounds pretty laid back and almost ambient at times, then at its most up-beat, sounds like some sort of 8 bit techno. The only thing I think distracts from the composition is the 8 bit sounding lead part that comes in at 0:32. I think it is a catchy part, but I don't know if the lead synth fits it very well. Cheers to your future works! Keep improving!

I think some violins would fit nicely in this song

I like this, its very quiet and understated, even though you've adjusted the rendering! Haha. The drums sound SO good! Are those real, soundfonts, VSTi's, or did you use your keyboard? I'm just curious because I've never been able to find drums so nice! Great work! Very relaxing.

Fanopeion responds:

I use Addictive Drums for all my compositions. I record them from my keyboard through midi, loop them and quantanize them for 1/4 a step and so on. However for the sound itself I often edit these drums with various filters and/or slight panning for selected attributes such as the hihat.

I highly recommend them to anyone that is interested in nice drums for their songs :)

I like the atmoshpere you create here also...

But in the context of the song standing alone, it picks up extremely slow for my taste. It would probably work excellent in a game or movie, though. I really like the little build-ups and changes you have here! Good work!

vai90 responds:

Thank you very much for the feedback!

Pretty smooth!

It's a very calming track! Thanks for sharing!

Damn! It's pretty weird...

How some music can border between completely horrible and pretty amazing... I'm still confused... Keep it up, though! And yeah, everything cool gets thrown into the miscellaneous section. This is too crazy for anywhere else!

Are you two using the same software?

Everything sounds out of time. Even when you just have the beat playing it sounds a little bit choppy. Experimenting is good though, so keep practicing and I hope your sound improves! I really think you guys just need to use better or more compatible software. I think the beat would be decent if the drums and piano fit together on the same time scale. Good luck!

TechnicolourNuance responds:

Really? ... I kinda put the beat to what I had with the piano. Message me with something. I could show you the exact patterns I used. I made everything in time.......no doubt about that. I made sure I sliced where I needed to. Explain how it's out of time?

I make electronic music. I also play drums and bass.
